WINS is the oldest continuously operating all-news station in the United States, having adopted the format on April 19, 1965 under former owner Westinghouse Broadcasting, and is one of two all-news stations in the New York City market owned by Audacy, with WCBS (880 AM) being the other. The station’s nighttime signal, via ionosphere skywave propagation, reaches much of the eastern half of North America.
