WDKX is an independently Black-owned urban contemporary radio station that broadcasts from Rochester, New York on a frequency of 103.9 MHz at 800 watts of effective radiated power.
The station’s studios are located east of downtown Rochester along Main Street, and the transmitter tower is located atop Xerox Tower in downtown. WDKX chose its call letters to honour Black heroes (“D” for Frederick Douglass, “K” for Martin Luther King Jr., and “X” for Malcolm X). 103.9 FM WDKX – WDKX is a broadcast radio station in Rochester, New York, United States, providing Adult Contemporary Urban R&B, Rap and Hip Hop music. The first locally Black-owned radio station in upstate New York. It is Rochester, New York’s number one community-oriented station and continues to jam the hottest Hip-Hop & R&B from old to new school.
