The Flame

The Flame:

On The Flame, a storytelling show at The Belfry Theatre in Victoria, BC, and also broadcast LIVE via Zoom, the audience was captivated by stories from The United States.

The first storyteller of this evening was an immigrant to America who had many adventures with her husband before they settled down on a farm. She told us about how she washed clothes in a stream and did other chores for the family that took them into their home.

The next storyteller talked about his time as a soldier during World War II when he fought in France and Belgium before crossing into Germany. He said it felt like “walking through hell.

” The stories were both funny and serious, but they always kept the audience’s attention. The last storyteller got up to tell us about his time in The United States as a stowaway on container ships during the Vietnam War in The 1970s.

He told of how he had almost drowned when one of these ships was boarded by pirates before returning to The United States with no money or home.

This was my second experience of watching a show at this theatre which I have recommended to anyone who is looking for something different from going out to dinner or just staying home with Netflix.
